Bedbug treatment at the coast

Mombasa's homes, apartments, hotels and holiday rentals see a constant flow of people and luggage — from upcountry, from abroad and between the coast's busy residential areas. That makes bedbugs a common problem, and one that is easy to bring home without noticing.

We provide the same structured service in Mombasa as in Nairobi: confirm the problem, treat in two visits six days apart, and leave you with clear preparation and aftercare guidance. Bookings are handled through our main line, 0710 907628, and all treatment is delivered by Pestraid Kenya.

Why bedbugs can build up quickly on the coast

  • Warmth speeds up the life cycle. Bedbugs develop faster at higher temperatures, so eggs hatch and nymphs mature more quickly in warm homes. A small problem can grow faster than it would in a cooler climate — another reason to act early.
  • Travel and luggage. Long-distance buses, the SGR and flights bring a steady stream of bags into homes, hotels and rentals. Luggage is one of the main ways bedbugs spread — see bedbugs in clothing and luggage.
  • High-turnover accommodation. Hotels, guesthouses, holiday homes and short-stay apartments host many different guests in a short time, so one infested bag can affect a room quickly.
  • Shared buildings. In apartment blocks and hostels, bedbugs can move between units along pipes, wiring and gaps under doors — see how bedbugs spread between apartments.

Our two-treatment programme in Mombasa

Every treatment follows our two-treatment eradication programme:

  1. First treatment — after confirming the infestation, the technician treats beds, frames, furniture and the hiding places found during inspection, using products and methods selected for the situation and allowed by their labels.
  2. Second treatment, six days later — targets bedbugs that survived the first visit and nymphs that have hatched since.

Because both visits matter, we schedule them together when you book, so you know both dates before the first treatment starts. The programme is backed by an eradication guarantee under its written terms.

Who we treat in Mombasa

  • Homes and apartments — bedrooms, children's rooms, sofas and the furniture around them. See residential bedbug control.
  • Holiday lets and short-stay apartments — treatment planned between bookings, with guidance for hosts and cleaners on spotting early signs during changeovers.
  • Hotels, guesthouses and serviced apartments — discreet room-by-room response and housekeeping guidance. See hotel bedbug control.
  • Offices, hostels and other premises — scheduled around your operations. See commercial bedbug control.

Preparing for treatment in a warm climate

You will receive preparation instructions specific to your treatment. A few points matter especially at the coast:

  • Laundry: wash bedding and clothing in the hottest water the fabric allows and dry it thoroughly. Drying in the sun is not a reliable way to kill bedbugs on its own.
  • Keep things in place: don't move bedding, furniture or bags into other rooms or onto balconies before treatment.
  • Ventilation and re-entry: stay out of treated rooms for the re-entry period you are given, then ventilate as directed before going back in.
  • Holiday lets: block out the dates for both visits and the re-entry periods before taking new bookings.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does bedbug control cost in Nairobi?

Residential treatment is charged per visit by the size of your home: studio/bedsitter KSh 4,500, 1 bedroom KSh 5,500, 2 bedrooms KSh 6,500, 3 bedrooms KSh 7,500 and 4 bedrooms KSh 8,500.

Every programme includes two visits, six days apart, so the full programme is twice the per-visit price — for example KSh 13,000 for a 2-bedroom home. Larger homes, hotels and commercial premises are quoted individually. See the price list.

Will one treatment eliminate bedbugs?

We do not promise that a single visit will eliminate an infestation. Bedbug eggs are more difficult to kill than active bugs, and some insects may be hidden in places that are hard to reach on the first visit.

That is why our core service is a two-treatment programme: a second treatment six days after the first targets bedbugs that survived or hatched in the meantime.

How long does professional bedbug treatment take?

The length of each visit depends on the number of rooms, beds and furniture to be treated, and we will give you an estimate when we book. Our standard programme involves two treatment visits six days apart, so the full programme spans about a week, plus any re-entry period stated for the products used.

Do I need to leave the house during treatment?

Usually, yes. People and pets should stay out of the rooms being treated during the treatment and for the re-entry period the technician gives you. That period depends on the products and method used, so it is confirmed for your specific treatment rather than being a fixed number of hours.

When can I return to a treated room?

The technician will tell you the re-entry time for your treatment before they leave. It varies with the product label, the method and ventilation, so we do not publish a single re-entry time that applies to every case. Follow the specific instructions you are given.

How can I prevent bedbugs from returning?

Inspect second-hand furniture and mattresses before bringing them home, check luggage after travel, reduce clutter around beds, and consider mattress encasements so any new activity is easy to spot. Report any new signs early. Our guide on reducing the risk of bedbugs returning covers this in detail.
